Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnotherapy? It is a combination of Psychological therapy and Hypnosis. Psychological therapy and counseling (sometimes referred to as the “talking cure”) is a treatment of emotional and psychological disorders, unwanted habits and undesirable feelings, using psychological techniques alone. The aim of all this therapy is to assist people in finding meaningful alternatives to their present unsatisfactory ways of thinking, feeling or behaving. Therapy also tends to help clients become more accepting both of themselves and others and can be most effective in promoting personal development and unlocking inner potential.

There are many forms of psychological therapy but Hypnotherapy is distinctive in that it attempts to address the client’s subconscious mind.  In practice, the Hypnotherapist often requires the client to be in a relaxed state, frequently enlists the power of the client’s own imagination and may utilise a wide range of techniques from story telling, metaphor or symbolism (judged to be meaningful to the individual client) to the use of direct suggestions for beneficial change.  Analytical techniques can also be used in an attempt to uncover problems deemed to lie in a client’s past, or therapy may concentrate more on a client’s current life and presenting problems. It is helpful if the client is personally motivated to change (rather than relying solely on the therapist's efforts) although a belief in the possibility of beneficial change will be a very good starting point.

One of the most commonly asked questions about hypnotherapy is regarding the control of the Hypnotherapist or hypnotist. First and foremost you simply cannot be controlled by anyone using hypnosis. This common misconception is most commonly brought about by stage hypnosis. It appears that the stage hypnotist is in control over the volunteer but this is not the case at all. Volunteers involved in stage shows are of the character where they would be comfortable to act out the suggestions asked of them without hypnosis. They could actually refuse to carry out these suggestions should they wish to do so.In hypnosis no one can be made to do anything they do not wish to do, and at anytime the volunteer could open their eyes and immediately bring him or herself out of hypnosis. You are always the one in control. Simon is not involved in anyway with stage hypnosis tricks, he uses Hypnosis with therapy to create positive and effective change in your life.

Many worry about “getting stuck” in hypnosis. This does not and cannot happen. Hypnosis is a safe and very natural state of relaxation. When in hypnosis it is proven that our senses become more alert than when in a normal state of consciousness. You are always in control, and are able to bring yourself out of hypnosis at anytime, just by opening your eyes.

Some people believe they cannot be hypnotized! That is great, because if you have a strong mind then YOU will be able to put yourself into hypnosis very easily! Simon's role is to simply help guide you into hypnosis. Hypnosis is very safe and is purely a natural form of relaxation. Once you are in hypnosis, Simon uses the therapy part to help you.

Other therapies practiced by Simon are:

HYPNOANALYSIS

Hypnoanalysis (analytical hypnotherapy) is a form of hypnotherapy used to treat the cause of a problem Hypnoanalysis, is an extremely effective and powerful form of analytical hypnotherapy that is used to treat the longer term problems such as social phobia, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and many other phobias and symptoms. Hypnoanalysis seeks to find the root cause of a problem. When the root cause of a problem is revealed, the symptoms can disappear, and the change is for good.

Hypnoanalysis works on the basis that every symptom has a cause, just in the same way that the term 'cause-and-effect' works in other areas of life. Where the two different types of hypnotherapy that we use differ so greatly is the way in which they seek to help to deal with the problem. Hypnoanalysis looks at the root cause of the problem, whereas suggestion hypnotherapy works on the symptom, seeking to relieve the symptom for a while.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

EFT is a form of alternative psychotherapy, that purports to manipulate the body's energy field by tapping on acupuncture points while a specific traumatic memory is focused on, in order to alleviate a psychological problem. This technique can be taught within a single session and the client can take it with them. It is also a very effective method of relieving the body’s stress and tension.

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)

NLP is the practice of understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behavior to produce the results they do. NLP provides people with a methodology to model outstanding performances achieved by geniuses and leaders in their field.

A key element of NLP is that we form our unique internal mental maps of the world as a product of the way we filter and perceive information absorbed through our five senses from the world around us. Once we become aware of this process, we can use it to facilitate positive change.
